I was born in South London (Brixton, Clapham and Stockwell), to Jamaican Parents. I got my passion for music from my late Mother, who on shopping trips to Brixton Market, would spend time listening to and buying the latest reggae releases and pre-release tunes from Jamaica and the USA.
In my early teens, I would often volunteer to play the music for family and friends at whatever function they were having.
When I started working, most of my weekly pay was spent buying the latest Soul and Reggae tunes from the UK and USA.
In my late teens a family friend called Barry took me under his wing, when he and (Chiney) George decided to form a Sound System in Brixton called Nasty Rockers. I was there when Ricky Ranking (aka Ricardo McKenzie), Lorna G, Sandra Cross and David `Swing and Dine` Miller, used the Sound System as a launch-pad for their careers.
I left South London for Essex when I was 21, but I continued to buy records for my listening pleasure. In the mid 90`s a group of my friends purchased the lease on a Pub called The Drum in Stratford/Plaistow East London, and I was the Resident Friday Night DJ there for a few years, until work commitments meant that I had to give it up.
I got my break into radio around 2005, through my friend Michelle Bailey, who was a dance teacher at Avenues Youth Centre in West London. They knew she had a passion for music and asked if she would like to do a show on their Radio Station. She invited me to do it with her and we had a very successful couple of years, in which the audience enjoyed the banter between us, as well as the music we played.
I have since played on several radio stations including Axe FM, Trustme Radio & Lockdown Radio.
In 2019 I joined Chaaawaaa Radio. You can hear my weekly Soul ConneXion Show, every Thursday from 8-10pm where I play the best in R&B, Neo & Independent Soul, plus some Rare Grooves.
I won the "Presenter of the Year" Award in 2021, followed up with an "Outstanding Show" Award in 2023.
