CeeBee Multimedia (Colin Brown) first started entertaining people around 1975 when his dad asked him to play the music at one of his numerous house parties. He later progressed to playing music in and around London on his sound system The Mighty 3 Hi–Fi with his co-owners. He was both a selector and MC. Their sound system was at its peak in the 1980’s playing alongside sounds like: Saxon International, Nasty Rocker, Stixman, BMW, Addis-A-Baba, and MJR Roadshow to name a few.
He first started working with artists/bands in 1982 when his sound system hosted a show and dance featuring the True Identity band. Later in the 1990’s he got in to music production and formed Hardcore Music Company (HMC). He experienced the process of releasing music via Jet Star when the distributor was in its heyday. During this period he joined the Musicians Union and attended many of their seminars. He also became interested in the Black Music Industry Association (BMIA) which was based in Harlesden and attended their workshops. After becoming friendly with the management team he offered his services and carried out a quality review of their processes and procedures.
In more recent times again working with True Identity in 2013, he experienced the difficulties of releasing and promoting reggae music in the UK. New challenges had emerged that he hadn’t encountered back in the 1990’s. Jet Star had closed down and there was no longer a national reggae music distributor, the UK reggae industry appeared to be fragmented. With no main distributor he had to identify where all the UK reggae record shops were located and do the distribution himself.
In 2015 he was invited to join Reggae Fraternity UK (RFUK), an organisation which was set up to support UK artists and musicians. It was a logical step for him to join and use his knowledge from sound systems and from working with True Identity. He was able to share his transferable skills and training which he had acquired in various engineering supervisory and junior management roles. During the same period he joined Chaaawaaa Radio as a DJ/Presenter. This was timely, it gave him the opportunity to promote the UK artists and musicians that he was supporting via RFUK
